This Gibson A12 mandolin had a severely damaged headstock and previous repair attempts had only made it worse. Several previous luthiers had attempted to fix it and failed. I cut away the mangled wood and filler and replaced it with a fresh block of maple. I then matched the original sunburst finish, making the repair invisible.
